NEW PUBLIC SCHOOL OPTION IN DISTRICT 6
The Hamilton Heights Academy opened in fall 2002 with a kindergarten class a plan to develop into a small community school with interested and involved parents, excellent caring teachers, and a diverse community of children, months before Chancellor Klein touted these very virtues as the elements of a successful public school.

FRIENDS OF DONNELLAN SQUARE
Finally, after almost three years of advocating for the upgrade of the park median at West 15oth between St Nicholas place and St Nicholas Avenue, former City Councilmember Michels and the New York City of Parks and Recreation answered the call of the CPO. GARBAGE POLITICS

City Council recently held Hearings on the New York City Solid Waste Plan which previously included the West  135th Garage Transfer Station. Last October, MAYOR BLOOMBERG announced that the W.135th Street Marine Transfer Station will not reopen. Now it's time for the City Council to support the Mayor's decision and vote to keep the garbage Station closed. FELLOW RIDERS OF THE A/C
Thank you for all you did to let the MTA know our demands that service be restored quickly on the A/C subway lines.  People I have spoken to who are close to the agency tell me that the countless calls and emails they received from outraged riders were heard loud and clear.   Thanks to this pressure--and some engineering feats by the MTA technical crews--the worst of the service disruptions are now behind us.

UPGRADES PLANNED FOR ST NICHOLAS PARK

As you know, St. Nicholas Park has been awarded $1.2 Million from Councilmember Jackson's office to repair the staircase between 132nd St. and 133rd St (southernmost staircase). The money will cover Phase I of repairs, which will include staircase design, landscaping around the staircase, purchasing new stone and repairs.

EARTH DAY FAIR
