Progress in the Battle Against Illegal Locksmith Stickers
We are happy to report that there is some progress in the fight against this pernicious nuisance.  GVSHP has been working on this issue with City Council Member Quinn and other community groups, and last fall circulated a flyer to residents and community groups urging that stickers posted on private property be reported so that violations and fines may be issued (see www.gvshp.org/Locksmithflyer.pdf).

After a long battle, more than 500 violations have been issued to two of the worst offenders in the Village.  These rogue companies often hide behind relay numbers and false addresses, making enforcement difficult.  Council Member Quinn will be looking into ways to further expand the current law to make enforcement easier, and GVSHP will continue to work with her office and community members to report offenders and put an end to the practice.

GVSHP urges you to continue to report any stickers you see, and to circulate and post our flyer informing your neighbors of how they can do the same; more violations will serve as more of a deterrent against offenders.  See www.gvshp.org/locksmithalert.html  for more information and for flyer.
