The Conservancy is hosting an Earth Day Fair on Saturday, April 23 (rain date Sunday, April 24) from 11:00am - 4:00pm on the Great Hill (106th Street at Central Park West). The event is free and open to the public, and will feature live entertainment throughout the day, about 35 local environmental and youth organizations facilitating fun and educational activities, face painting and arts-and-crafts, potato sack races and other lawn games, and lots of picnic and play space! Also, for those of you who have a bike -- ride on over and have it valet parked (for free!) by Time's Up or tuned-up (small donation) by Recycle-A-Bicycle!! Featured entertainment includes the following: PAPRIKA: Tour exotic lands without leaving your seat! Savor Arabic funk, African rock, Brazilian batucada, Cuban son and Haitian merengue with this gloriously international dance band. GROOVEHOOPS: Awaken your inner hula-hooper with NYC's hottest hula-hooping troupe! GROOVEHOOPS will perform their magical dance-style hooping on stage, then lead whoever's interested in a hooping lesson out on the lawn. RUDE MECHANICAL ORCHESTRA: Brass Band meets the Streets of NYC! In friendly fashion, RUDE MECHANICAL ORCHESTRA promises to deliver hot beats and rhythms to get you "in tune" with the earth. DJ MOOSE: Brooklyn's favorite spinner, DJ MOOSE will keep the earth rotating inside you throughout the event and for days afterwards!
